Curator David S, Rubin discusses the methods that Faith Ringgold and Arnold Mesches employ to tell stories. Ringgold constructs her narratives on quilts, painting the imagery and inscribing text on fabric. Mesches paints images appropriated from a variety of sources, with meanings emergent in the juxtapositions and symbolic associations.
