SAMA Collections: Curatorial Staff

Jessica Powers joined SAMA as Gilbert M. Denman, Jr. Curator of Western Antiquities in September 2006.  She recently directed the reinstallation of SAMA's Greek, Etruscan, and Roman collections in the Blackburn and Denman Galleries. 

These galleries, which reopened in the spring of 2008, house over 550 works of art that span more than 3,000 years.  Powers' research focuses on the Romans as patrons of the visual arts and on the decoration of upper-class houses in Pompeii.  She received her A.B. in Art and Archaeology from Princeton University and her Ph.D. in Classical Art and Archaeology from the University of Michigan.
