Other important information you need to know before visting SAMA.
ATTENTION SCHOOL/YOUTH TOUR GROUPS:
You are required to read the "MUSEUM RULES" and "CHAPERONE RULES" to your group prior to visiting SAMA. Then sign and fax back both documents to (210)978-8134, ATTN: School Programs Coordinator.
Museum Rules
Help the Museum take care of its art by observing the following rules:
1. Food, drink and gum are not allowed in the Museum galleries.2. Leave lunches, coats, backpacks, pens, markers, etc., in your vehicle, front desk or auditorium.
3. Stay at least 12 inches away from the art and gallery walls. Please walk carefully so that you do not bump into the art or other people.
4. Only use lead pencils if you are sketching or taking notes in the galleries.
5. NO FLASH photography is allowed in the Museum. No photography is permitted in the special exhibitions.6. Limit 10 students plus one chaperone at a time in the store.
7. WALK. Do not run.
8. Keep your voices low so you dont disturb other Museum visitors.
My students and I have heard and understand the expectations in the Museum Rules.
We agree to follow the regulations set forth by the San Antonio Museum of Art, and realize that other behavior will be addressed by the SAMA security and staff in an appropriate manner.

YOUR MAIN ROLE IS TO MAINTAIN DISCIPLINE AND HELP KEEP STUDENTS ATTENTION FOCUSED ON THE TOUR. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
· One chaperone is required per 10 students. Chaperones must be 18 years or older.
· Stay with your assigned group throughout the Museum visit and know where they are at all times.
· Visit the restroom and snack bar before or after your tour not during.
· Make sure the students are observing the Museum Rules.
· Avoid side conversations with other students or adults when on a Docent-Led tour.
· Attend to any student causing disruption; if necessary, remove students from the galleries and wait at the front desk until the tour is complete.
· Do not use your cell phone in the Museum they are a distraction to others.
SPECIAL SITUATION:
· In case a student becomes ill, attend to the needs of the student.Security staff members are available to assist with first aid orcleanup procedures.
· In case of severe weather or a fire emergency, follow instructions given by the security staff.

PARKING
Free parking is located in front of the Museum. An additional lot is located on the west side of the main building. Buses may unload and load school groups at the front of the museum, then park in designated bus spaces in main parking lot.
ACCESSIBILITY
Reserved parking is available in the main lot, which is across the street from the Museum. The main Museum building is fully accessible to the mobility impaired. Both the front and back entrances have ramp access. Once inside the Museum, there is also ramp access from the Focus Gallery to the Decorative Arts Gallery. There are three elevators throughout the Museum. A limited number of wheelchairs are also available upon request from the Front Desk.
CANCELLATIONS
If you need to cancel your tour reservation, please contact us at (210) 978-8138. If you happen to be running late on the day of your tour, please call the Museums front desk at (210) 978-8100. Please be aware that there are often other tours scheduled on the day of your visit, before and/or after your reserved time, so we ask that you be considerate of these Museum patrons.
PHOTOGRAPHY
No flash photography is allowed in any part of the museum. No photography is allowed of special exhibitions or objects on loan to the Museum. Cameras without tripods may be used in the permanent collection galleries. Please ask for assistance if there is an object in question.
SAMA STORE
The Museum Store is located to the right of the Great Hall as you enter the Museum. The Museum Store features a range of art books and catalogs, distinctive jewelry and specialty gift items. An assortment of greeting cards, note cards and educational toys are also available. Museum members and area educators receive a 10% discount on all purchases. Limit 10 students plus ONE chaperone in the store at all times. You may call (210) 978-8147 before your scheduled tour to inquire about special orders and merchandise for your students.
