America the Beautiful

This tour introduces students to American landscapes, portraits, sculptures, furniture and everyday objects from the Colonial period to the present. Works are contextualized within history to enrich students' understanding of continuities through time and geographic region. This tour meets many Social Studies and Fine Art 3-12 TEKS, and is ideal for 5th-, 8th- and 11th-grade Social Studies curricula. 

  • Guided tours are 50 minutes long.
  • Two week's advance reservation is required.
  • SAMA can accommodate 30-60 students per time slot. Special accommodations will be made for larger groups.
  • At least 1 chaperone is required per 10 students. Chaperone must be 18 years or older.
  • Students, teachers, and chaperones will be admitted to the museum for free.
  • Space may be reserved for students to eat their bag lunches.
